Wai Wai & Daddy

You can always see daddy with his smiling face whever he talks about his son. This lovely father and son can really make mommy jealous sometime.

I remember Wai Wai’s first word is “dad-dad-dad….” when he was 10 months old.

In the morning, Wai wai will take sock for daddy when daddy goes to work. In the evening, when wai wai heard the main gate open, he will be very excited and run to the glass window, and see if daddy is coming home. If he saw daddy, he will wave and call “dad-dad”, and then run to the wooden door, to open the door for daddy. When daddy came in, he will stick to daddy wherever daddy go, even follow daddy to the toilet (outside the toilet of course). Then when daddy sits down, Wai Wai will carry slippers to daddy.

When Wai Wai saw daddy sleeping on the floor, he will take all the pillows to daddy, I mean “ALL”, including his own small pillows, until daddy said “enough, enough already”.

… That’s why Wai Wai is always daddy loving boy!

Long waited letter

Today Company “D” inform me that they had received the approval from their regional office on my job application (because I will be reporting to the regional office). Now they will release the offer letter to me. (Hai~ big company normally has so many procedures) Without delay, I tell them I will be there in one hour time, rushing from Semenyih (customer’s office) to PJ.

Finally I collected my offer letter, WHAT? Just one page? I ask them I was expecting more information will be given together with the offer letter, e.g. the Package, Benefit, company R&R and etc. They told me the information will be giving to me on the first day I report to work (so to say, by then I have no choice to accept whatever is written there, hai~). Anyway, just have to hope for the best.

At lease now I had secured the job, I can inform Company “R” that I am not reconsidering their offer anymore (malu…dragged them again for another week).

A little excited to go back to work, after more then 2 years not working as a full time basis. The first reaction from daddy is “Good lah, starting tonite mommy dun scold me anymore!” eh where got?! Got meh?? You know I am in bad mood, then dun kacau me lah, if so, too bad lah.

Wai Wai's sleeping pattern

Wai Wai is a very active boy, he is the type of children that not easy to go to bed, but very easy to awake (because he is too use to quiet environment). Once he’s awake he will never sleep back again. And I can only do some work after he go to sleep, so his sleeping time is always my concern, to make sure there is minimum disturbance, especially during his afternoon nap. The neighbor’s dog barking, Ice-cream man and gas deliver van will always make me nervous. Even my freelance customer call me, the first thing they will ask if my son is sleeping, and then they will whisper over the phone (haha….how can wai wai hear their voice over the phone???)

If Wai Wai wake up and saw me working on the computer, he will be very excited, and want to play with my computer. Therefore if I notice he has any sign of waking up, I quickly jump to my bed (like the movie: Mission Impossible) and pretend sleeping with him. Then there will be chances that he will sleep again for another half or 1 hour.

Wai Wai transfer to a single bed from a cot when he start knock his head or hand on the side of the cot when he turn 1 year old. So we put a 3 and a half feet single bed next to our bed so that he had enough space to turn. He has many type of sleeping position, sometime he can even change position like every 10 minutes. So is very hard to put blanket on him.

Sometime in the middle of the night, he will climb up to my bed and sleep at my back side or stomach. And I dare not move, until he fall to sleep again, then I slowly carry him to his bed again. Or he might climb to my pillow, and take over my place, I have to give way, and sleep at his bed. I remember one time he came to sleep at my pillow, and knocked his head to my mouth, my mouth were bleeding. So now, when I notice he got this kind of intention, I will use my hand to protect my mouth first. (poor mommy, ya?!)

There is one incident that I’ll never forget, one night I was working on my freelance project in the study room, my son and my hubby were sleeping in the master room. Normally I’ll let the door open a little bit, so that as and when I can come in to check on Wai Wai without making any noise. So that night as usual, I go and check on Wai Wai, I found he is not at his bed and the door was open wide big, then I quickly wake my hubby up, and find Wai Wai. Then I found him at the staircase, walking down to ground floor, guess he is looking for me. Luckily nothing happen to him, if he falls down from the staircase, I will never forgive myself. From there onwards, I always keep the door close or work in the master room, even through I need to work in the dark.

Last time I use to sing him songs before he go to sleep. I will be his “Human Jukebox” (人肉点唱机), he will chose the song he like to listen. If he doesn’t like that song, he will make noise and want me to change song. Even through it is tiring, but I enjoy doing it (lovely mommy…haha).

Wai Wai at granny’s house

Everyday morning I drop off Wai Wai at my mom’s house, and I will hang around a few minutes to catch up with my mom before saying bye bye to Wai Wai. So we will chat about his progress, and how naughty he is at his granny’s house. Wai Wai will get to play at the driver seat while we chatting.

My mother said nowadays when ask him to come “she-she” in the mug (we try not to let him ware pampers when he’s awake), he will pretend walking, but on the same spot, not moving at all. Until my mom go to carry him over, he will start laughing.

And now he is not afraid of anyone (use to scare of my mom, but now…), when my mom ask him to go to bed when he is playing with his cousins, he will shout loud loud “NO!”. My mom regrets that she taught him how to said no…haha. And he started to buli his 2 cousins, snap their joystick when they playing video games, push the cousin to get out of his way…etc.

The only thing that can make Wai Wai really sad, if my father scolds him. Sometime my father just said “eh, can not …” (he not even finish his sentence), Wai Wai will start crying, as like someone beat him very hard like that (very “thieh”), until my father “sayang” him, only he stop crying. My mom said she scolded him loud loud, beat his hand also never cry, but he is very sensitive with his grand father….funny ho?! Wai Wai has some special feeling with my father since he born, even through my father don't really play with him a lot. I remember when Wai Wai a few months old, every time he saw my father, he will kiss him many times without asking, (me ah, ask him also dun want to kiss). I said to my mom, maybe they are lover in their previous life … hahahaha.

So every morning, there will be new story about my son. Wai wai will show angry face when we talk bad about him, but if we said he did something good, he will clap his hand (meaning he is a good boy). After all the laughter, I will say bye bye to wai wai, then my mom will carry him to her house, Wai Wai will wave bye bye to me with his sad little face. That scene will really make me feel sad, and miss him even more.

Preparation

Knowing that I am going back to work as full time basis, I need to prepare a lot of things, especially for my son. So many things that come to my mind, for e.g. arranging baby sitting, planning new daily schedule (like when to wake up, when to eat and when to sleep) and make sure he has enough supply (like milk powder, cloths and etc) when he is in my mom’s house. Hopefully I didn’t miss out any important thing.

And I also seeking advice from some of my friend who is a working mum, on how’s their arrangement for their children. And how they balance up their life between work and family.

As for myself, I start shopping, buying new cloths and shoes (can not look like auntie anymore mah!). Not yet earning money, already start spending money … what to do?!

Job Offer

I had to make a difficult decision last week, because I got another job opportunity from company (“D”), which they arranged a 2nd interview for me with their New Yoke counter part. In other hand, the first company (“R”) who offer me a job earlier on are chasing me to collect their offer letter. I tried to drag company “R”, while waiting for the answer from the company “D”. (I feel very bad for company “R”, but I have no choice). So ding-dong here and there, finally yesterday I got a confirmation from company “D”, but their offer letter can only ready by end of the week. After discussed with my hubby, I decided to reject the offer from company “R” this morning (no so good to drag so long), even through I have not secure the job from company “D” with black & white. (So pray for the best loh! Hope they’ll keep their promise.)

Many thanks to my freelance customer, who allows me to continue working for them until I start work. (Currently working 3 days a week in a University)

So, I'm finally starting my First Blog, how exciting!

Tell you a little about myself, I am a Wife and a Mother of a one and a half years old toddler – Wai Wai. I am a work-at-home mum, but very soon my lifestyle will be different after I started a 9-5 job by middle of June. So, look out for more stories about how a work-at-home mum transform to a working mum ... I definitely will miss my son a lot :(
